R. L. V. (Van) Ristau serves as Vice President Operations, of Export Management Services. As such, he is responsible for the management of the business operations of the company, including selection and management of staff and associates to prepare marketing plans and export analyses for clents, development or quality control of client deliverables, and developent of Company processes used in the delivery of client services. Ristau has served in technical, line managment and senior staff positions within the technical and professional services industry since 1979. He was a key executive within the ARC Professional Services Group, and was responsible for developing the initial international contract base, which grew from zero in 1988 to $25 million annual revenues in 1994. Most recently, he was Director, International Business Development for Computer Science Corporation's International Center within the Systems Group.
Among his accomplishments in international business operations withing the technology sevices sector are the establishment of a Canadian subsidiary including greenfield startup and marketing-of-technology to Canadian industry as well as civil and government sectors. He was responsible for candidate selection and due diligence participation for two acquisitions and subsequent line management for their integration into the Canadian subsidiary.
Ristau participated in the due diligence of a European electronics and software development company, and the management of post-acquisition integration activities. He also managed international marketing functions for domestic business units seeking to export technology services to industry and government clients. He was directly responsible for contract awards in North Asia, Southeast Asia, the Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. He prepared the Capture Manager Handbook, used by the $500 million-revenue Systems Engineering Division of CSC for qualifying and closing both domestic and international business opportunities.
Prior to his career in the professional services industry, Ristau was associated with the Harbert International Corporation, a major, privately held A&E/Construction firm. As a manager with Harbert, he was responsibile for preparation and negotiation of international contract bids, development of logistics plans for the support of international operations, mobilization of project resources, and for in-country management of the business operations of major projects in Africa dn the Carribean.
Ristau served on active duty in the Naval Reserves and is Qualified in Submarines. He holds a BS degree in mathematics from Harding College and has done graduate work in the Interational Transactions master's program at George Mason University.
