Renata Anderson was born in Germany, and has lived in the United States for more than 30 years.
In Germany, she worked as assistant to the Managing Director of the Hedwigsthal Papierfabrik, near Koblenz. Later, she worked as chief financial officer of the_________, a well-known design shop in Dusseldorf.
While living in New York City and Greenwich, CT, she founded the Freunde Deutsche Kunst Und Sprache, an organization created to promote relations between Germany and the United States.
After moving to Austin, she founded The German-American Association of Austin, and was the leader in establishing the Sister-City relationship between Austin and Koblenz, Germany. Among the many results of this program are:
For her work in education and international relations, Renata has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal of the City of Austin, and a special Certificate of Meritorious Service from the city of Koblenz.
In 1997, she was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande by the German government. This medal is that government's highest civilian award, and is the equivalent to the U. S. Medal of Freedom.
